Strengthening its research engagement on climate change, the University of Luzon was represented by Dr. Jordan H. Llego, College of Nursing and Midwifery Dean, at a national capacity-development workshop focused on climate resilience.

Dr. Llego was among 100 participants selected nationwide for the National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP) CASCaDe Workshop, “Advancing Interdisciplinary Research and Policy for Climate Resilience in the Philippines.” His participation provided an opportunity to engage with researchers and experts working on climate-related concerns.

The two-day face-to-face workshop was held on July 20–21, 2026, in Daraga, Albay. It covered climate-change science, public health, ecosystems and biodiversity, climate adaptation, research design, data modeling, innovation, and science communication.

Through professional training and collaborative learning, the program encouraged participants to develop interdisciplinary research proposals with potential policy applications. These activities also provided opportunities to examine the links between climate change, environmental health, and human health, areas relevant to nursing education and health research.

Dr. Llego’s participation further supports the University of Luzon’s efforts to engage in nationally relevant research and contribute to knowledge that can help communities respond to climate-related challenges. The experience also adds to the University’s growing body of research and learning activities focused on health and sustainability.

The workshop aligns with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. SDG 4: Quality Education is advanced through professional training and interdisciplinary learning. SDG 13: Climate Action is supported through discussions on climate change, adaptation, and climate policy. SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals is strengthened through collaboration and knowledge-sharing among researchers and experts from across the country.

Congratulations, Dr. Jordan H. Llego, on representing the University of Luzon in this national research and learning engagement.
