Meaningful learning continued on the 2nd day of the University of Luzon’s immersion program in Bengkulu, Indonesia on May 19, where students expanded their professional education through community engagement, cultural exchange, and practical training. The activities provided valuable opportunities to connect classroom knowledge with real-world health and educational settings while strengthening international collaboration.

A key highlight of the day was the delegation’s visit to the Lempuing Health Center. College of Nursing and Midwifery Faculty members Prof. Omarie, Ma’am Kyla, and Ma’am Jelyn delivered a lecture on the management of diabetes, together with the center’s medical professionals. The session deepened participants’ understanding of diabetes prevention and patient care while exposing student nurses to community-based health practices in an international setting.

The learning experience continued at Lempuing Senior High School, where UL student nurses engaged local students in an interactive discussion about bullying in the Philippines. The exchange encouraged meaningful dialogue, broadened cultural perspectives, and reinforced the value of education in promoting empathy, social responsibility, and positive school environments.

Through every activity, the University of Luzon continues to prepare future healthcare professionals with the knowledge, skills, and global perspective needed to serve diverse communities beyond national borders. The immersion program reflects the University’s commitment to developing competent graduates through experiential learning and international academic engagement.

The program reflects the University’s commitment to advancing sustainable development through global learning and meaningful collaboration. It supports SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being by strengthening health education through discussions on diabetes management and community healthcare practices. It also advances SDG 4: Quality Education by promoting professional training, practical learning experiences, and international knowledge exchange that enhance educational quality. Furthermore, the collaboration reinforces SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by strengthening international academic cooperation and fostering lasting relationships that support shared educational and healthcare initiatives.
