University of Luzon Strengthens NSTP Student Leadership Through ULNSTP CARES: Orientation and Team Synergy

Student leadership took focus during the ULNSTP CARES: Orientation and Team Synergy on July 25, 2026, which provided NSTP Class Leaders with opportunities to develop their skills, strengthen teamwork, and understand their role in service.
The program was organized by the University of Luzon Center for Integrated Extension Services (CIES) together with the University of Luzon Integrated Volunteer Extensionists (ULIVE). It introduced the foundation, purpose, and constitution and by-laws of NSTP CARES through a session led by Prof. Darwin M. Juguilon, NSTP/CIES In-House Coordinator.
Participants also explored service-driven leadership and community engagement through the session “Leadership & Beyond” by Ms. Allysa Mae C. Jorta, Extensionista. Ms. Mhawen Jhean T. Mercado, Extensionista, then presented ULIVE’s mission and volunteer initiatives, giving the class leaders a clearer view of opportunities for community involvement.
The program also included interactive team synergy activities facilitated by ULIVE and the Extensionistas. These activities encouraged collaboration, camaraderie, and problem-solving among the participants.
The session concluded with guidance on servant leadership from Dr. Carmelo John E. Vidal, NSTP/CIES Director. The discussions and activities helped the NSTP Class Leaders better understand their responsibilities while developing social responsibility and practical leadership skills.
The program also supports the University’s efforts toward sustainable development and active community participation. It contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4: Quality Education by providing learning opportunities that develop leadership skills, teamwork, and responsible citizenship; SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions by promoting integrity, participation, and responsible leadership in student and community activities; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by preparing NSTP Class Leaders to build meaningful partnerships with communities through future extension and volunteer activities.
