University of Luzon Strengthens Cybersecurity Awareness with Informative Seminar

The University of Luzon prioritizes the digital well-being of its students, faculty, and staff. In line with this commitment, the College of Computer Studies, spearheaded by Dean Dr. Diosdado C. Caronongan, held a comprehensive cybersecurity seminar yesterday, March 21, 2024, at the multi-purpose hall.

The seminar, titled “UL Cybersecurity Awareness Seminar,” aimed to equip participants with essential knowledge and defensive strategies against cyber threats. The Cyber Knights (ULCK / CK), a student organization dedicated to cybersecurity advocacy within UL, played a pivotal role in organizing and presenting the insightful sessions.

  • Password Strengthening and Management: Participants learned the importance of strong passwords and effective password management techniques.
  • Understanding and Preventing: Phishing, Smishing, and Vishing Attacks: The seminar shed light on these common social engineering tactics and strategies to avoid falling victim.
  • How to Secure Your Facebook Account: Specific steps were outlined to enhance Facebook account security and user privacy.
  • How to be a Responsible Digital Citizen: The session emphasized responsible online behavior and its impact on the digital community.

Caronongan himself led the discussions, joined by Prof. Andrew Caronongan (Adviser of UL Cyber Knights), YC Mallare (President of CK), Liza Mae Hisoler (VP – Internal of CK), Ryan Karl Francisco (VP – External of CK), Carl John Fer Villanueva (Press Relations Officer of CK), Mary Rose Guntang (Treasurer of CK), Chris Angel Rongilla (Auditor of CK), and Loisa Caronongan (1st Year Representative of CK). Their expertise and dedication ensured the comprehensive delivery of vital cybersecurity knowledge.
