University of Luzon Nursing Research Published in Teaching and Learning in Nursing

Student–faculty collaboration continues to strengthen research in nursing education, with a new study from the University of Luzon gaining publication in an international nursing journal. It was accepted for publication in Teaching and Learning in Nursing, a Q2-ranked international journal with an SJR 2025 score of 0.62. The article was made available online on August 22, 2026, in Teaching and Learning in Nursing.
The manuscript, titled “Improving Learning Outcomes in Congenital Heart Disease Care Through Structured Peer Study Groups: A Quality Improvement Project,” was authored by Rholee Rose Pascua, Danica Mae Gabriel, Algym Vien Dacayana, Keisha Ashley Hilario, Angelica Grado, and Dr. Jordan H. Llego.
The publication is the first Quality Improvement project from the University of Luzon College of Nursing and Midwifery to be accepted for publication and becomes the College’s 11th Scopus-indexed article. The study examines how structured peer study groups can improve learning outcomes in congenital heart disease care while highlighting the value of student–faculty collaboration in nursing education.
The research demonstrates how evidence-based educational strategies can help students develop knowledge and skills related to heart disease care. The article is also available through ScienceDirect, with complimentary full-text access until October 11, 2026.
Research that connects educational strategies with human health can strengthen both learning and healthcare practice. Through the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, the study supports SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being by applying evidence-based approaches to heart disease care; SDG 4: Quality Education by strengthening professional education through collaborative research and evidence-based learning; and SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure by applying a structured Quality Improvement approach to nursing education and research.
The University of Luzon continues to provide opportunities for students and faculty to engage in research that strengthens nursing education and contributes knowledge to the healthcare field.
