Mechanical Engineering students of the University of Luzon strengthened their technical knowledge through a three-day educational tour held from September 23 to 25, 2026. The activity connected classroom learning with actual industrial operations, giving students a closer look at how engineering principles are applied in different industries.

On September 23, the students visited Central Azucarera de Tarlac, where they learned about sugar milling and refining, distillery operations, and the mechanical components used in sugar and alcohol production.

The second day, September 24, brought the group to Steel Asia Corporation and LRT-2 Line A. The visits introduced students to steel manufacturing processes and transportation systems, helping them understand the role of mechanical engineering in industrial production and public infrastructure.

On the final day, September 25, the students toured the Bataan Nuclear Power Plant and Philcement Corporation. Through lectures and facility tours, they gained insights into power generation and cement production, completing their exposure to a range of engineering applications.

The educational tour provided opportunities for practical learning beyond the classroom while helping students better understand the systems and technologies that support industries and communities.

The tour also supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals through applied learning and industry exposure. SDG 4: Quality Education is advanced by connecting academic lessons with practical experience; SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy is supported by learning about power generation; SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure is reflected in exposure to manufacturing processes and infrastructure systems; and SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities is supported by understanding the role of transportation and essential facilities in community development.

Through educational activities like this, the University of Luzon continues to prepare future mechanical engineers with relevant knowledge and skills for their chosen profession.
