University of Luzon Erasmus+ Scholar Expands International Learning Through Simulation Training

Hands-on clinical learning continues to provide valuable opportunities for nursing students to develop practical skills in real-world settings. Ms. Ralph Zen Francisco, a third-year Nursing student from the University of Luzon – College of Nursing and Midwifery, took part in immersive classes at the Monoprofile Simulation Center of Józef Gołuchowski University of Applied Sciences (ANSG) in Poland.
The classes on June 7 at the Monoprofile Simulation Center is a part of Ms. Francisco’s Erasmus+ Student Mobility Program, where she continues her academic and clinical learning experience in Poland. As the first University of Luzon student to benefit from the program, she gained access to simulation-based learning that complements her nursing education and international exposure.
The activity featured advanced patient simulators and high-fidelity mannequins designed to recreate clinical situations. She underwent practical training in Basic Life Support (BLS) procedures and intubation techniques for adults and toddlers, allowing her to apply classroom knowledge to realistic patient cases.
Through these activities, Ms. Francisco developed clinical decision-making, critical thinking, and practical nursing skills needed for safe patient care. The experience also gave her exposure to new approaches to healthcare education, supporting the development of professional competence for diverse healthcare settings. Her participation further reflects the opportunities available through international academic cooperation, allowing University of Luzon students to gain learning experiences beyond the classroom.
The experience reflects how international learning can connect classroom knowledge with practical skills and healthcare needs. It contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals through SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being, by providing practical training that supports safe and effective patient care; SDG 4: Quality Education, through active learning, skills development, and professional education that prepare future healthcare professionals for practice; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals through international academic cooperation that provides students with opportunities to study abroad and gain experience in different settings.
