3rd Year BA Communication students are expanding their professional experience through an internship at iFM Dagupan, located in Brgy. Herrero, Dagupan City, where classroom learning is translated into real-world broadcasting practice.
Working alongside media professionals, the students participate in station operations, apply communication skills, and develop technical skills in a dynamic broadcast environment. The experience provides valuable insight into professional standards while strengthening their confidence and preparing them for careers in communication.
Running from April to early June, the apprenticeship provides meaningful workplace immersion that allows students to learn directly from experienced broadcasters. Beyond fulfilling an academic requirement, it gives students the opportunity to strengthen workplace competencies, gain practical exposure to media production, and support their career development while building the professionalism expected in the communication field.
The initiative reflects the University of Luzon’s commitment to delivering experiential education that bridges academic instruction with professional practice. Through sustained collaboration with industry partners, the University continues to prepare graduates who are adaptable, ethical, and equipped to contribute to the evolving media landscape.
The internship program aligns with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4: Quality Education by strengthening professional education, practical training, and student learning through authentic workplace experiences; SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth through the development of human capital, workplace competencies, and career development that enhance graduates’ readiness for employment; SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure by providing exposure to modern broadcasting technology, media operations, and innovative practices that contribute to the continued advancement of the communication industry; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by strengthening collaboration between the University of Luzon and iFM Dagupan, united by a common goal of enriching student learning and professional development.
