University of Luzon College of Business Administration Hosts Comprehensive Career and Entrepreneurship Seminar
Posted on 18th of Feb 2025 by UL AdministratorThe University of Luzon College of Business Administration (ULCBA) successfully hosted a two-part educational seminar on February 11, 2025, providing Luzonians with essential knowledge for professional entry and inspirational models for entrepreneurial pursuits. Organized by the diligent students of Group 4 of ULCBA, the event, titled “Building Skills for Business Aspirants (BSBA): Unlocking for Professional Growth,” focused on equipping the student body with the necessary tools to navigate the complexities of the modern labor market and build successful ventures.
The morning session commenced with an in-depth seminar on “DOLE: Labor Education for Business Students, Career Employment Coaching, and Anti-Illegal Recruitment.” Students were privileged to learn from the expertise of Mr. Panfilo F. Dioquino Jr., a highly respected Labor and Employment Officer III from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE). Mr. Dioquino provided a clear and comprehensive perspective on fundamental labor rights, effective employment strategies, and, critically, the identification and avoidance of illegal recruitment schemes. This practical and protective guidance is deemed essential for Luzonians preparing to transition from academic life into the competitive professional world, ensuring they walk into their careers with both knowledge and confidence. As the speaker emphasized, “A career is not just about finding a job—it’s about finding yourself in the process. Walk with knowledge, stand with confidence, and never settle for less than what you deserve.”
Following the vital labor education in the morning, the afternoon session shifted focus to entrepreneurial success with “From Local to Global: The Success Journey of Java Green Coffee’s Expanding Network.” This segment was designed to inspire and educate on the realities of scaling a business, featuring Mr. Aldrin Ilumin, Vice President of Alpha Global Prestige and Owner of Java Green Coffee. Mr. Ilumin shared his extraordinary journey of ambition and perseverance, detailing the evolution of Java Green Coffee from humble origins to an internationally recognized enterprise. His narrative transcended mere business metrics, highlighting how setbacks were transformed into stepping stones and aspirations into tangible achievements. Attendees were even afforded the opportunity to experience the company’s product firsthand, savoring a brew that epitomized the spirit of hard work and resilience. The afternoon concluded on a motivational note, reinforcing the sentiment that success, much like a great cup of coffee, is brewed with patience, perseverance, and passion.
The monumental success of this dual-session seminar was made possible through the dedication of the organizing team, Group 4 of ULCBA, led by Ms. Jazch P. Garner, and her capable team members: Aliyah I. Frando, Jenina Karyle V. Madrid, Geomariel M. Mangonon, Mia Irish V. Fernandez, Arlyn M. Estrada, Rose Ann D. Lim, Trisha Ferrer, VJ Girl Marquez, and Princess Zyla F. Maramba. The University of Luzon extends its profound gratitude to all resource speakers and acknowledges the unwavering institutional support provided by Dean/Instructor Dr. Amalia G. Dela Cruz, Chief Librarian Dr. Lorena Ontangco, and the entire Library Staff.
These educational and inspirational activities undertaken by the University of Luzon directly align with key United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), demonstrating the institution’s commitment to global development targets. The provision of specialized labor education and career coaching, as seen in the DOLE session, directly supports SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) by promoting productive employment, ensuring decent work for all, and protecting labor rights. Simultaneously, both the labor education and the entrepreneurship case study contribute significantly to SDG 4 (Quality Education) by offering relevant, high-quality supplemental learning that enhances vocational and technical skills for employment, decent jobs, and entrepreneurship, thereby promoting lifelong learning opportunities for the Luzonians.
