University of Luzon’s commitment to forging highly competent and future-ready professionals was underscored on January 14, 2025, as Business Administration students, collectively known as Luzonians, gathered for a vital professional development seminar. The event, meticulously organized and hosted by student Group 1, successfully connected the academic sphere with industry expertise, providing participants with essential insights required for navigating contemporary professional landscapes. The primary objective of the session was to enhance student mastery in crucial areas such as sales, management, and strategic problem-solving.

The morning proceedings commenced with a highly insightful presentation from Mr. Gomer C. Gomez, Bank Officer II at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) – North Luzon Regional Office. His discourse, titled “Navigating the Financial Landscape: Central Banking and Currency Mastery,” offered a foundational yet sophisticated look into the national monetary system. Mr. Gomez elaborated on the fundamental operations and critical functions of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, equipping the participants with essential knowledge of macroeconomic stability and, more practically, providing hands-on expertise in currency authentication—a skill of growing importance in financial roles.

The afternoon session shifted focus toward leadership and career advancement with a presentation by Ms. Beau Joyce C. Caldona, Group Sales Manager at Toyota Dagupan City Inc. Ms. Caldona delivered her address, “Empowering Future Leaders: Mastering the Art of Problem-Solving for Career Advancement,” which synthesized her expertise in sales management and leadership. She provided Luzonians with valuable instruction on strategic problem-solving methodologies, emphasizing effective decision-making frameworks and actionable professional development strategies necessary for career trajectory acceleration in competitive industries. The depth of the resource speakers’ experience ensured that the lessons shared were both theoretically sound and immediately applicable in real-world business scenarios.

The successful execution of this high-impact event is a testament to the University’s administrative and academic leadership. Special recognition is extended to Dean, Dr. Amalia G. Dela Cruz, whose guidance continually champions academic excellence and supports student-led initiatives aimed at professional growth. Furthermore, Ms. Joanna Marie P. Ferrer, HRAD Supervisor, provided invaluable organizational and administrative support, ensuring the seamless execution of the day’s activities. The University extends its sincere appreciation to all resource speakers for their dedication in sharing their professional expertise and to Group 1, led by Ronalyn Carambas, alongside members Allyson Baylon, Rochelle Cerezo, Guiane Rose Abad, Jesusa Alabanza, Jhayvee Calagno, Joyce Claveria, Ma. Reyza Cortez, Mikhaella De Guzman, Charlotte Camba, and Jom Tamayo, whose dedication and diligence were instrumental in the success of the seminar.

The focus of this professional development initiative strongly aligns with the realization of specific global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By offering specialized training that extends beyond the core curriculum, the seminar directly supports SDG 4: Quality Education, ensuring that students are provided with inclusive and equitable access to relevant and effective learning outcomes, thereby enhancing their future employment prospects. Moreover, the emphasis on cultivating skills in management, sales, and financial literacy—areas crucial for market efficiency and economic stability—serves the objectives of SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth. By preparing Luzonians for productive and responsible employment and entrepreneurship, the University of Luzon contributes significantly to sustained, inclusive, and sustainable economic growth in the region and the nation.
