University of Luzon Brings Philippine History to Life Through Educational Visit at Banáan Museum

Bringing history beyond the classroom, students from the University of Luzon gained firsthand learning experiences through an educational visit to the Banáan Pangasinan Provincial Museum (Casa Real) in Lingayen, Pangasinan. The visit was conducted on May 27, 2026 as part of the students’ Reading in Philippine History course. It provided an opportunity to connect lessons with actual historical artifacts, cultural exhibits, and local heritage.

Participants came from the College of Medical Laboratory Science, Pharmacy and Biology, the College of Nursing and Midwifery, and the College of Hospitality and Tourism Management. Through the museum tour, students explored historical materials and learned more about the cultural heritage of Pangasinan. The experience also encouraged active participation, observation, and reflection beyond the classroom.

The educational visit was initiated by Ms. Annabelle Cua, with Ms. Camilla D. Fernandez joining the activity to assist and support the students. Their guidance helped connect classroom discussions with the historical materials presented during the tour.

Experiential learning remains an important part of education at the University of Luzon, giving students opportunities to apply classroom knowledge through meaningful learning activities. These experiences help students develop a deeper understanding of their lessons while strengthening observation, reflection, and critical thinking skills.

The visit provided meaningful opportunities to connect classroom learning with cultural awareness, heritage appreciation, and responsible citizenship. The activity also supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
