Newly Graduated Nursing Researchers Advance Evidence-Based Education Through International Publication
Posted on 21st of Jun 2026 by UL AdministratorThe University of Luzon and the College of Nursing and Midwifery celebrates a remarkable academic achievement of Noah Macaraeg, Mickaylla Bryce Cayabyab, Dominic De Guzman, Miss Stephanie Riz Gabriel, Jay Ramea Gabrillo, and Dr. Jordan Llego for the acceptance of their manuscript entitled, “From Simulation to the Clinical Area: A Mixed-Methods Study Comparing Skills Laboratory Proficiency and Clinical Performance (RLE) Among Nursing Students in a Philippine University.” Their collaborative work contributes valuable insights to nursing education by examining the relationship between simulation-based learning and actual clinical performance among nursing students.
Their manuscript has been accepted for publication in Advances in Medical Education and Practice, a Scopus-indexed journal, SCImago Q2-ranked journal in Education, and a publication listed in the Web of Science Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI), with a Journal Impact Factor of 1.7.
What makes this achievement particularly noteworthy is that the student authors are newly graduated nursing students, and the research originated as a class project during their third year in the University. Through dedication, scholarly rigor, and a strong research culture, the study evolved into a publishable work that now contributes to the growing body of international literature on nursing education and evidence-based practice.
Under the mentorship and leadership of Dean Prof. Dr. Jordan Llego, the research was carefully developed, strengthened, and refined into a scholarly publication worthy of international recognition. This accomplishment demonstrates the transformative impact of quality mentorship and reinforces the belief that students can make meaningful contributions to academic knowledge even before entering professional practice.
The publication of this research reflects the University of Luzon’s commitment to fostering excellence in research, innovation, and academic scholarship. It highlights UL-CONM’s dedication to developing graduates who are not only clinically competent but also capable of generating evidence that informs educational practice and improves healthcare outcomes.
Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, this achievement advances SDG 4 (Quality Education) by promoting research-driven learning, critical thinking, and the development of globally competitive healthcare professionals. It also supports SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) by contributing evidence that strengthens nursing education and ultimately enhances the quality of patient care and healthcare delivery. Through meaningful research and scholarly engagement, the University of Luzon continues to empower future healthcare professionals to become innovators, leaders, and contributors to sustainable development.
