The mission of the University of Luzon’s Theatre & Dance Company (ULTDC), under the leadership of Director Restituto Fernandez (also the Director of Cultural Affairs), is to promote the diversity of Filipino customs and traditions and to cultivate the talents of students in the performing arts by encouraging the integration of cultural activities and arts into the University.

The ULTDC auditions kicked off today, October 17th. Participants in the audition were briefed on the perks of joining the team, the ground rules, and the fact that their cohort represents a “reset” for the organization as a whole due to its entirely new member roster. Although they were clearly under a lot of stress, these students gave their all and maintained their authenticity throughout. When casting, it’s important to assess the candidate’s personal qualities like their drive, enthusiasm, and perseverance during the audition process. Your self-discipline and ability to perform well under pressure will be put to the test during your time in the ULTDC; both are highly transferable skills that can help you succeed in any career.

Due to the pandemic caused by CoViD-19, the auditions were broken up into two separate sessions. This was done to ensure the highest level of productivity possible while also adhering to all of the necessary safety protocols. The second session is scheduled to take place on Thursday, the 20th of October.

Because of its emphasis on arts and culture, the ULTDC has been an essential component of the identity and history of the university since its inception. You can be sure that the ULTDC will be present wherever there is an opportunity to participate in artistic endeavors if there is any chance at all. ULTDC is a perfectly natural extension of the university’s mission because it is in perfect alignment with the institution’s desire to preserve the rich cultural heritage of the Philippines.
