The Philippines is widely regarded as one of the world’s most diverse nations. Our rich cultural heritage can be traced back to our colonial past, when numerous nations vied for control of our territory. This demonstrates the quantity of natural resources available to us and our strategic location in the Pacific. Consequently, product exportation has become one of our economy’s most robust sectors.

Beginning on November 7, a week-long celebration was held by ULCBAHTM. The purpose of this event is to recognize the Filipinos’ ability to create a variety of profitable products from virtually anything. This is especially significant in light of the fact that, as stated in the previous paragraph, our nation is extremely rich in natural resources. We have everything, including agricultural, maritime, and mining industries. Under the guidance of a central theme, all of the department’s students developed innovative products. This year, okra (lady’s finger or ochro) was the crop of choice. The same products were then presented in the UL Stadio, where they were sold from personalized booths at reasonable prices. Concurrently with this event that focuses on the commercial aspect of our economy, a number of other events also took place. A standout among them is a pageant that highlighted the rich culture of our nation by incorporating organic and biodegradable materials into traditional Filipino attire. This culture is a major factor in our status as a leading tourist destination in Southeast Asia.

This event highlights Filipino creativity, specifically the creativity of the College of BAHTM students at UL (Business Administration, Hospitality, Tourism, and Management). This annual event not only allows students to exercise their freedom to explore concepts and practices but also better prepares them for future situations in which they may be required to think critically, whether for the sake of their livelihood or for other reasons.
