3.3.3 Shared Sports Facilities

The University of Luzon actively shares its sports facilities with the local community, including schools, organizations, and the general public. The university provides free access to its facilities twice a month, creating opportunities for physical activity, wellness, and community engagement beyond the campus. This initiative not only maximizes the use of university resources but also promotes a culture of health, fitness, and social inclusion among residents of surrounding communities.
A key feature of this initiative is the bi-monthly Basketball Clinic, which welcomes participants from the Luzon Medical Center as well as basketball teams from various barangays, including Barangay Pogo Chico. University coaches and staff lead skill-building sessions, interactive games, and friendly matches. Some matches are played between the University of Luzon Team, the University of Luzon Golden Tigers, the Luzon Medical Center Team, and barangay teams. These activities enhance teamwork, sportsmanship, confidence, and social interaction while encouraging a spirit of healthy competition and mutual respect.
In addition to basketball, the university opens its facilities to Taekwondo and Karatedo teams, providing training sessions, demonstrations, and workshops for community members. These programs help participants develop physical fitness, discipline, focus, and self-confidence while promoting inclusivity and engagement across different age groups.
Through these bi-monthly sports initiatives, the University of Luzon demonstrates a strong commitment to improving community wellness, expanding access to recreational opportunities, and fostering holistic well-being. By sharing its sports facilities as a body, the university ensures that its resources benefit all residents, strengthen community ties, and support personal and social development. These shared facilities serve not only as a venue for athletic growth but also as a space for building positive social connections, enhancing mental and physical health, and encouraging active, healthy lifestyles within the local community.
