The University of Luzon (UL) officially welcomed its newest students with the annual ‘Tiger Walk’ on August 11, 2025. This long-standing tradition serves as a rite of passage for all incoming freshmen and transferees, symbolizing their formal integration into the esteemed Luzonian community.

Held at the Don Luis F. Samson, Sr. Estadio, the event was a vibrant display of school spirit and solidarity. The day’s program, commencing at 8:00 AM, began with a solemn Mass of the Holy Spirit, followed by the entrance of the colors and the singing of the National Anthem and the UL Hymn. The atmosphere was charged with anticipation as the UL Drum and Bugle Corps led the students in a spirited parade.

Dignitaries and faculty members were present to deliver inspiring messages and words of encouragement. The Welcome Remarks were delivered by Prof. Angel S. Reyna Jr., Director of the Center for International Relations. The College ‘Roar’ Call, a signature segment of the event, was conducted by Mr. Luis Santiago B. Samson III, Director of Student Affairs and Services, igniting the competitive spirit of each college. A powerful presentation about the UL Powerhouse, led by Dr. Aurora M. Samson-Reyna, Vice President for Academic Affairs, further energized the crowd. Dr. Luis M. Samson Jr., University President, gave a special Welcome Message to the new students. The turn-over of the Key of Responsibility was a symbolic moment, with Engr. Diosdado C. Caronongan, Dean of the College of Computer Studies, passing the key to Prof. Tzarita Marie P. Mayo, Dean of the College of MLS, Pharmacy & Biology. This act officially signified the transition of hosting duties from the College of Computer Studies to the College of MLS, Pharmacy & Biology. Prof. Mayo then delivered her Acceptance Speech, marking her acceptance of the key and the new hosting responsibilities, while also officially recognizing the students as the newest members of the University of Luzon family. The event concluded with a celebratory mood, as the new Luzonians embraced their new journey and the bright future that lies ahead.

This event is not merely a formality but a powerful expression of the university’s commitment to its students’ holistic development. By fostering a sense of community and pride from the very beginning, the University of Luzon sets the stage for a successful and enriching academic experience.

The University of Luzon’s Tiger Walk 2025 aligns with several key United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
