University of Luzon Student Triumphs in Placemaking Dagupan Design Competition

The University of Luzon is proud to announce the outstanding achievement of one of its students, Joseph Macadenden Jr., who secured First Place in the highly competitive Placemaking Dagupan Design Competition. His winning entry, “PANDARAGUPAN: Dagupan City Culture and Arts Park,” distinguished itself among a strong field of creative proposals.

The competition, aimed at fostering artistic expression and cultural preservation within the community, provided a significant platform for emerging talents. Macadenden Jr.’s design, “PANDARAGUPAN,” impressed judges with its innovative approach to creating a vibrant cultural and arts hub for Dagupan City.

The University of Luzon extends its heartfelt congratulations to Joseph Macadenden Jr. for this remarkable accomplishment, which underscores the caliber of creative talent fostered within the institution. The university also commends all participants for their valuable contributions to the Placemaking Dagupan initiative.

Luzonians and the wider community are invited to view the Dagupan Placemaking Exhibit, showcasing the winning designs and other entries, located on the First Floor of SM Dagupan. The exhibit will be open until May 11, 2025.

This initiative and the success of its participants contribute significantly to several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By providing a platform for artistic expression and cultural preservation, the competition supports SDG 4: Quality Education by fostering creativity and critical thinking skills. The focus on developing public spaces for arts and culture directly contributes to SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities by enhancing urban infrastructure and promoting inclusive and accessible public spaces.
