The University of Luzon is proud to announce the successful engagements of Dr. Carmelo John E. Vidal, Environmental Science Director and Graduate School Dean, during his recent trip to Thailand from May 3-9, 2025. Dr. Vidal’s activities underscore the University’s unwavering commitment to fostering international partnerships and contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

On May 3, 2025, Dr. Vidal formally represented the University of Luzon in signing a Co-Hosting Agreement with Northeastern University (NEU) for their upcoming 12th National Academic Conference and 10th International Academic Conference, scheduled for May 24, 2025. This significant event will focus on “The Research and Development of Innovations towards Sustainable Community Development Goals.” The visit also included an exploratory meeting to discuss a prospective Memorandum of Agreement between the University of Luzon and NEU, signaling a promising future for academic collaboration.

The following day, May 4, Dr. Vidal attended the Graduate School Forum at Rajabhat Maha Sarakham University (GSRMU), where he actively engaged with graduate students and university officials, fostering valuable academic exchange. On May 5, 2025, he met with RMU University Officials and Foreign Affairs Officers to review the draft Memorandum of Understanding, further solidifying potential collaborations.

From May 6-9, 2025, Dr. Vidal participated in the 24th ASEAN University Network-Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) Tier 1 Training Course in Bangkok. This intensive program focused on enhancing expertise in program assessment, a crucial aspect of academic quality.

These strategic engagements directly contribute to the University of Luzon’s commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals. The establishment of co-hosting agreements and the exploration of Memoranda of Understanding with international institutions such as Northeastern University and Rajabhat Maha Sarakham University significantly advance SDG 17: Partnership for the Goals. This goal emphasizes the importance of global partnerships to achieve sustainable development. Furthermore, Dr. Vidal’s active participation in the Graduate School Forum at GSRMU and the AUN-QA training course directly supports SDG 4: Quality Education. By fostering the exchange of best practices in graduate education and enhancing expertise in quality assurance for academic programs, the University of Luzon is better equipped to provide high-quality education for all Luzonians and contribute to a more knowledgeable global community.
