University of Luzon Senior High School Students Excel at 42nd YMCA Province-Wide Olympics

Hosted by the YMCA Pangasinan and held at the University of Pangasinan on January 17, 2026, the event served as a prestigious platform for Luzonians to showcase their intellectual and artistic capabilities against the finest representatives from across the province. Through a combination of rigorous preparation and innate talent, the UL delegation reaffirmed the institution’s standing as a bastion of academic and cultural prowess. The university administration extends its warmest congratulations to the student-competitors who brought honor to the maroon and gold through their remarkable dedication and discipline.
In the academic and literary categories, Luzonians displayed exceptional clarity of thought and eloquence. Jaan Friah Villanueva earned a distinguished second-place finish in the Oration competition, while Elyza De Guzman secured third place in Essay Writing, reflecting the high standard of communication skills fostered within the university. The Bible Quiz Bee team, composed of Cameron John S. Garcia, Princess Haide R. Castro, and Avril Chain C. Infante, also claimed the second-place spot, demonstrating deep theological understanding and teamwork. Furthermore, the university’s presence in the arts was solidified by Ava Sophia D. Tiangco, who garnered third place in the On-the-Spot Drawing competition, proving that the creative spirit of UL remains vibrant and competitive.
The cultural segment of the Olympics was highlighted by a spectacular performance from the UL Traditional Folk Dance troupe. The ensemble—consisting of Juliana Bellie Q. Jimenez, Princess Winnie V. De Vera, Angel Anica C. Tan, Gian Carlo R. Ferrer, King Manwell E. Ocampo, and Mcrievin P. Mapanao—achieved second place, an accomplishment that underscores the importance of preserving and promoting Filipino heritage through the performing arts. Beyond the podium finishers, the university recognizes the commendable participation of Jelealyn C. Nardo in Extemporaneous Speaking; Zashienn Ailah R. Ancheta, Princess Nicole S. Camba, and Levy C. De Vera in the Quiz Bee; Megan Julia C. Madrona in the Vocal Solo category; and the duo of Jonathan S. Manzano and Janae A. Servito in the Vocal Duet. Each participant embodied the university’s core values of excellence and passion, representing the student body with professional decorum and confidence.
