Posted on 10th of Oct 2025 by UL AdministratorThe University of Luzon, in continued dedication to public health and community welfare, successfully conducted its 40th Pledge 25 Campaign and Mass Blood Donation on October 9, 2025. This vital activity, which saw high participation from the student body and faculty, was held at the spacious Don Luis Samson Estadio from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The University executed this event in strong and enduring partnership with the Philippine Red Cross Chapters of Pangasinan, Dagupan City, and San Carlos City, marking another significant milestone in their joint efforts to safeguard the regional blood supply.
For decades, this recurring initiative has served as a beacon of compassion, successfully uniting the hearts of the academic community and the surrounding region in the critical mission of saving lives. The University had extended a robust invitation to all Luzonians, encouraging them to uphold this tradition and become champions of life and hope. The message resonated deeply across campus, emphasizing the profound personal impact of each contribution in strengthening the nation’s healthcare infrastructure and fostering a culture of everyday heroism: “Your blood, their heartbeat; your gift, their tomorrow.”
The dedicated commitment of the Luzonians yielded an inspiring and tangible result. Following the conclusion of the campaign, the University proudly announced that a total of 318 successful donors selflessly contributed blood, officially becoming true lifesavers in the community. The University offered its deepest gratitude for this overwhelming show of support, acknowledging the profound achievement with the Pangasinan expression, “Balbaleg á salamat!” This remarkable response not only provides a substantial and immediate boost to the local blood supply but also powerfully upholds the core institutional values of health, equality, and partnership within the University of Luzon. Through this collective and generous effort, the University and its students reaffirm their institutional promise to make a lasting, positive impact on society, one crucial donation at a time.
The sustained and enthusiastic participation in the Mass Blood Donation Campaign reflects a clear institutional alignment with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By mobilizing hundreds of volunteers and providing life-saving blood resources, the activity directly supports SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, which aims to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all ages. Furthermore, the robust, decades-long collaboration with the Philippine Red Cross chapters and local government units underscores the University’s commitment to SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, demonstrating how institutional and non-profit cooperation is essential for achieving ambitious public health objectives. Finally, the campaign’s emphasis on universal, selfless generosity and equitable access to blood resources contributes fundamentally to the ideals of SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities, ensuring that critical healthcare support is available to all members of the community regardless of circumstance.
