The University of Luzon Language Society (LASO) recently demonstrated its profound commitment to literacy and community development by participating in a substantial book donation effort. On October 1, 2025, LASO members gathered at SM Center Dagupan to contribute volumes of knowledge to the ongoing SM Book Nook Donation Drive. This initiative, which benefits various communities through the accessible Book Nook kiosks, embodies the spirit of shared learning, guided by the theme, “Together, we turn every page into a promise — creating a brighter story for the next generation, one book at a time.” This dedicated contribution by the students of the Language Society underscores the enduring value the University of Luzon places on education as a foundation for societal progress. The donated books, covering a range of subjects and genres, are set to enrich the resources available to numerous communities and learners supported by the SM Cares program.

This successful act of generosity was a spontaneous effort driven entirely by dedicated Luzonians, showcasing their proactive initiative in seeking out avenues for meaningful outreach and supporting a major community program. The students meticulously collected and pooled their donated volumes before personally delivering them to the designated Book Nook kiosk at the venue. The collective action taken by LASO highlights the altruistic nature instilled in the university’s student body. Such acts of civic responsibility affirm the University of Luzon’s role in nurturing future leaders who understand and prioritize their social responsibility to uplift those around them, fostering a culture of intellectual accessibility and resource sharing.

The Language Society’s contribution is a tangible example of how the efforts of individual Luzonians align with global sustainability objectives. By providing educational materials to those in need, the activity directly supports the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education, specifically targeting increased access to relevant reading materials for all, thereby ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities. Furthermore, by engaging with the broader local community through a shared resource platform, this donation reflects the principles inherent in SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, fostering a supportive and resource-rich environment. The University of Luzon is proud of the Language Society for setting a commendable example of civic duty and intellectual generosity.
