University of Luzon Graduate School Hosts Successful Stakeholder Assembly & Convocation

The event brought together faculty, students, and key stakeholders for a day of insightful discussions and strategic planning.
Dr. Christine N. Ferrer, Regional Director of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Regional Office 1, delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the crucial role of graduate education in national development and regional progress.
The convocation featured two impactful Plenary Sessions. The first session, “Internationalization and Accreditation of UL Graduate Programs,” was led by Dr. Esther B. Vedaña, Dean of the College of Criminology and Chairperson of the Philippine Association of College and Universities – Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA). Dr. Vedaña’s presentation highlighted the importance of global standards and accreditation in enhancing the quality and competitiveness of the University of Luzon’s graduate programs.
The second session, “Research and Development Towards Sustainable Quality Graduate Education Program,” was presented by Dr. David C. Bueno, Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) and Student Services and Dean of Graduate School for Professional and Advanced Continuing Education at Columban’s College, Inc. Dr. Bueno’s discussion centered on leveraging research and development to foster a robust and sustainable graduate education environment.

This convocation and its associated activities contribute to several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The focus on “Internationalization and Accreditation” aligns with SDG 4 (Quality Education) by ensuring that graduate programs meet high global standards, thereby improving learning outcomes. “Research and Development Towards Sustainable Quality Graduate Education Program” directly supports SDG 4 by fostering innovation and evidence-based practices in education. The engagement with industry partners and alumni also contributes to SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by strengthening collaborations that enhance educational quality and societal impact.
