On October 10, 2025, the University of Luzon demonstrated its ongoing commitment to shaping the future of national education standards as five esteemed faculty members represented the institution at a critical national forum. The occasion was the Zonal Public Hearing (ZPH) on the Reframed Pre-Service Teacher Education Curriculum, an essential event co-hosted by the Research Institute for Teacher Quality (RITQ) in collaboration with the Teacher Education Council (TEC) Secretariat. The hearing was successfully convened at the University of the Cordilleras in Baguio City.

The ZPH represented a significant milestone in the educational reform process, serving as a key validation platform for the initial outputs of the newly reframed curriculum. These outputs included comprehensively proposed degree program descriptions, updated program outcomes, and strategically defined specialization tracks essential for modern teacher preparation. The official delegation from the University of Luzon included Prof. Aillene Q. Caraulia, Prof. Rizel B. Padua, Prof. Kimberly S. Delgado, Prof. Daniel Xerxes S. Padrid, and Prof. Joerom D. Onofre. Their collective presence underscored the University’s proactive stance in ensuring its pedagogical excellence remains aligned with both national directives and global benchmarks.

Throughout the forum, the University of Luzon’s delegation actively engaged in professional and rigorous discussions, providing the institution’s experienced perspectives on crucial matters of educational policy. Discussions centered on foundational teacher education standards, the effective deployment of specialized and general education majors, and ensuring seamless alignment with national performance outcomes for aspiring educators. This level of participation ensures that the unique insights and practical needs of the University’s community, particularly regarding the professional readiness of future Luzonians who pursue teaching careers, are robustly integrated into the national policy framework. By advocating for a curriculum that is adaptable, high-quality, and reflective of both local and international best practices, the University of Luzon further solidifies its esteemed position as a leader in educational innovation and teacher training excellence. We are proud of our faculty for tirelessly championing the needs of our stakeholders and contributing directly to the national discourse on advancing teaching quality.

The University of Luzon’s active engagement in the national reframing of the pre-service teacher education curriculum directly supports the global mandate of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This rigorous participation, aimed at elevating teacher standards and ensuring inclusive training, is a clear contribution to SDG 4: Quality Education, specifically targeting the goal of providing inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all. Furthermore, the collaborative framework of the Zonal Public Hearing, which involves the University of Luzon working alongside national agencies like RITQ and TEC, exemplifies a dedication to SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, demonstrating that complex, high-impact societal objectives, such as nationwide educational reform, are most effectively realized through robust and multisectoral institutional cooperation.
