Faculty members from the University of Luzon’s College of Education recently participated in the Competency-Based Training for Teacher Educators in Region 1, a professional development seminar held at Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU). Funded by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), the training took place from July 22 to July 26, 2025, bringing together educators from various institutions to enhance their pedagogical skills.

The training focused on the theme, “Towards LEPT Readiness: Enhancing Teacher Educators’ Competence for Transformative, Reflective, and Technology-Driven Instruction.” This initiative aimed to improve the performance of future teachers in the Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LEPT) by equipping their trainers with advanced instructional methods. The UL faculty actively engaged in the five-day program, participating in workshops and lectures led by experts in education. This provided them with valuable insights into modern, competency-based teaching and learning strategies.

Participation in this seminar allowed the Luzonians to collaborate with their peers from other universities, sharing best practices and gaining new perspectives on educational challenges. This experience is expected to enrich their teaching methodologies, ensuring that students at the University of Luzon receive an education that is not only relevant but also forward-thinking and effective in today’s evolving educational landscape.

The participation of University of Luzon faculty in this CHED-funded training aligns with key Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This activity directly supports SDG 4: Quality Education by focusing on the continuous professional development of teacher educators, a crucial step in strengthening the foundation of the education system. By collaborating with other institutions and exchanging knowledge, the university is also contributing to SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, demonstrating how institutional cooperation can lead to significant advancements in educational quality and outcomes.
