The University of Luzon (UL), through its College of Business Administration and Hospitality Tourism Management (CBAHTM), proudly participated in the 78th Araw ng Dagupan celebration today. The event, held at the Tondaligan Dumpsite, resonated with the profound theme: “Punla ng Pamilya, Puno ng Pag-asa – From Dumpsite to Fun Site, Let a Thousand Trees Bloom.”

Led by Dagupan City Mayor Belen T. Fernandez, Vice Mayor BK Kua, and the esteemed city councilors, this meaningful celebration underscored the critical importance of unity, sustainability, and hope in community development. The initiative saw dedicated Luzonians from CBAHTM joining hands with city officials and fellow citizens in a collective effort to transform the former dumpsite into a vibrant, green space. This act of environmental stewardship exemplifies the University’s commitment to civic engagement and fostering a more sustainable future for Dagupan City.

This tree-planting activity directly contributes to several of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By transforming a dumpsite into a flourishing green area, the initiative significantly advances SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities by making urban areas more inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable. Furthermore, the planting of a thousand trees directly supports SDG 15: Life on Land, promoting the protection, restoration, and sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems and halting biodiversity loss. The emphasis on community unity and the involvement of various stakeholders also aligns with SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, highlighting collaborative efforts to achieve sustainable development.
