The University of Luzon College of Nursing and Midwifery solidified its reputation as a leading institution in evidence-based practice and healthcare innovation following its extensive participation in the Global Conference on Health Innovation and Evidence Implementation. Hosted by the Global Society of Philippine Nurse Researchers, Inc. (GSPNRI), the conference took place on December 3–4, 2025, at Novotel Manila Araneta City, serving as a critical platform for scholars, practitioners, and students from across the nation to share cutting-edge research. The University’s presence was marked not only by significant institutional milestones but also by the remarkable achievements of its faculty and student researchers.

A key development affirming the College’s commitment to academic rigor was its official accreditation as a Chapter of the GSPNRI. This formal recognition positions the College shoulder-to-shoulder with national leaders in nursing research, underscoring its capacity to foster innovation and influence health policy. Further demonstrating its elevated standing within the research community, the College also served as a Co-Host of this year’s Global Conference, a role that signifies trust and confidence in the University of Luzon’s capability to advance the field of nursing through collaboration and knowledge dissemination.

The academic excellence of the University’s researchers was prominently displayed through several podium finishes. Professor Jane Marffy Llamas secured 3rd Place in the Professional Category for Podium Presentation, Stream 2, with her study, “Psychological Correlates of Suicidal Ideation: Examining the Impact of Fatigue, Cognitive-Emotional Distress, and Academic Motivation.” In the student categories, Mr. Diamond Lambino (BSN IV-B) earned 2nd Place in the competitive 3-Minute Pitch competition for his work on “Bridging Knowledge Gaps in Sexual and Reproductive Health: Implications for Education and Policy Interventions.” Complementing this success, Ms. Clarissa Joy Aquino (BSN IV-B) received 3rd Place for her Pecha Kucha Podium Presentation on “The Role of Social Media in Shaping Attitudes Toward Sexual Health Among Teenagers.” Additionally, Mr. Jo Kenneth Corpuz (BSN IV-B) delivered a compelling “Story Scape Presentation” on “Stress Management Strategies Among Nursing Students: A Concurrent Mixed Method Study.” These accomplishments were strongly supported by the institutional guidance and vision provided by the Dean Llego Research Program, which is designed to empower Luzonian students and faculty in leadership and research. The University extends its profound gratitude to Dr. Jordan Llego, Dean of the College of Nursing and Midwifery, whose leadership and vision continue to inspire excellence, and to the dedicated faculty and staff whose tireless commitment ensures the success and preparation of every Luzonian nurse researcher.

Beyond the competitive arena, the College strategically involved ten Level III Student Nurses as delegates to the conference. These junior Luzonian representatives—Helen Shein Neypes, Angel Morales, Ralph Zen Francisco, Cathleen Evangelista, Darwin Toralba Jr., Donita Malazo, Rica Jane Bejar, Ronalhyn Estrella, Rusbelle Yanes, and Rhole Rose Pascua—gained vital exposure. Witnessing the direct application of evidence-based practice and innovation in a global context provided them with a front-row seat to the future of healthcare, sharpening their perspectives and deepening their commitment to the profession with the discipline characteristic of Luzonian training.

The University of Luzon’s successful participation in the GSPNRI Global Conference directly aligns with several key United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The core focus on health innovation and the specific research topics presented, such as suicidal ideation and sexual and reproductive health, contribute significantly to SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, by advancing evidence that can lead to improved clinical practices and better public health outcomes. Furthermore, the College’s new accreditation as a GSPNRI chapter, its role as a Co-Host, and the inclusion of junior delegates fully embodies SDG 4: Quality Education by providing high-calibre, research-intensive training that prepares students for global challenges. Finally, the institutional partnership with GSPNRI demonstrates a commitment to SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, strengthening the means of implementation and revitalizing the global partnership for sustainable development through collaborative research and knowledge transfer.
