Posted on 24th of Jan 2026 by UL AdministratorThe University of Luzon College of Criminology formally commenced its Educational Tour 2026 on January 21, initiating a multi-day journey grounded in the core values of purpose, discipline, and service. Under the steadfast leadership of Dean Dante A. De Castro and Program Head Salvador Samson, the participating Luzonians were immersed in a series of “living classrooms” designed to transcend traditional academic boundaries. This experiential learning initiative, organized in strategic collaboration with Guru’s Guide Travel Management, underscores the University’s unwavering commitment to molding the next generation of law enforcement professionals through holistic exposure to the diverse sectors of the Philippine justice system. The tour’s inaugural day in Subic Bay provided a rigorous introduction to public safety, where students engaged in comprehensive lectures and demonstrations at the Bureau of Fire Protection and observed high-level tactical preparedness during a Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) equipment exhibition. The first day concluded with a technical orientation at a narcotics detection K-9 Training Center, reinforcing the essential values of accountability and inter-agency coordination necessary for effective nation-building.
The momentum of the tour intensified on January 22 as the delegation moved to the national capital region for a series of high-impact institutional visits. At the Camp Crame Forensic Unit, Luzonians were introduced to the sophisticated world of scientific investigation, gaining firsthand insights into crime scene processing, the application of polygraph examinations, and the utilization of advanced technologies in forensic documentation. This engagement served to bridge the gap between theoretical classroom discussions and the precise, evidence-based realities of the pursuit of justice. Simultaneously, the cohort visited Camp Karingal, headquarters of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), to observe the daily operational responsibilities and law enforcement practices required to maintain peace and order in a dense urban environment. The second day further expanded its scope with a visit to the Bureau of Corrections, led by CCINSP Eusebio B. Del Rosario Jr., where students analyzed the complexities of the national correctional system and the institutional discipline required for effective rehabilitation and service.
The final leg of the journey took place on January 23 at Camp Vicente Lim, a cornerstone of law enforcement training and administration. The session commenced with a series of informative audio-visual presentations that detailed the rigors of professional life within the Philippine National Police (PNP). This was followed by a highly engaging question-and-answer forum, which provided the Criminology students with critical information regarding the PNP Selection Process and the career trajectories available to dedicated public servants. By interacting directly with esteemed officers and personnel, the students deepened their understanding of the commitment required to safeguard public safety. Throughout the three-day itinerary, the University of Luzon College of Criminology expressed its profound gratitude to the various host agencies for their professionalism and their willingness to mentor the future practitioners of the field. This immersive experience has significantly enriched the academic and professional perspectives of the student body, reinforcing their dedication to integrity and responsibility.
These activities align closely with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically SDG 4: Quality Education and SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions. By providing Luzonians with experiential learning opportunities that go beyond the classroom, the University of Luzon ensures inclusive and equitable quality education that prepares students for specialized professional roles. Furthermore, by fostering a deep understanding of law enforcement, forensic science, and the correctional system, the College of Criminology directly contributes to the development of effective, accountable, and transparent institutions, which are fundamental to the promotion of peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development.
