Posted on 17th of Sep 2025 by UL AdministratorThe University of Luzon’s College of Business, Accountancy, Hospitality, and Tourism Management (ULCBAHTM) successfully concluded its annual ULCBAHTM Week and Nego-Luzonian 2025 event, a three-day celebration held from September 15 to 17 at the Multi-purpose Hall. This year’s theme, “Diversifying Innovation to Improve Sustainability in Business, Hospitality, and Tourism Industry,” guided a series of activities designed to challenge and inspire Luzonians to become forward-thinking leaders in their respective fields. The event served as a platform for students to apply their knowledge, showcase their talents, and engage with contemporary industry issues, all under the banner of sustainable development.
The opening day, September 15, set a dynamic tone with two primary competitions that tested both academic prowess and creative skill. The BAHTM Quiz Bee Competition, a highlight of the morning, brought together some of the brightest minds in the college. Participants engaged in a rigorous test of their knowledge across various topics, demonstrating a deep understanding of the business, hospitality, and tourism sectors. Simultaneously, the Poster Making Contest challenged students to visually interpret the event’s central theme. Through vibrant colors and powerful imagery, participants conveyed their unique perspectives on how innovation can drive sustainability, creating compelling visual narratives that were both aesthetically pleasing and intellectually stimulating.
The second day, September 16, featured a grand opening program that included a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a trade fair, signifying a crucial aspect of the week’s activities. This day was dedicated to the Nego-Luzonian, and Product and Service Development Competition. This event served as a practical platform for students to present their business acumen and entrepreneurial spirit through the development and showcasing of new products and services. Following the morning’s activities, the afternoon was dedicated to a series of skill-based competitions, including the Table Skirting Competition, Table Set-Up, and Flower Arrangement, which honed the students’ practical skills essential for the hospitality and tourism sectors. The day was further enriched by a Western Cuisine Competition, allowing culinary students to demonstrate their talent and creativity in food preparation and presentation. Mr. Prince Edward N. De Leon, the guest speaker, delivered an impactful address, offering valuable industry insights before the awarding of certificates of appreciation to the judges of the day’s contests.
The third and final day, September 17, maintained the momentum with a focus on specialized skills and a grand finale. The morning program included the Petit Four Competition, where students showcased their pastry and baking expertise in crafting these delicate confections. This was followed by a unique and culturally significant Theatrical Tour Guiding Global and Philippine Culture Exhibit Competition, which merged performance art, historical knowledge, and tourism skills. This event required participants to not only present a compelling narrative but also to demonstrate a deep appreciation for cultural heritage, aligning their presentations with the overarching theme of sustainable innovation in tourism. The week culminated in the afternoon with the Awarding and Closing Ceremony, a fitting conclusion that celebrated the achievements of all participants and officially brought the ULCBAHTM Week to a close, recognizing the hard work and dedication of everyone involved.
The activities of ULCBAHTM Week align directly with several key Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) established by the United Nations. The emphasis on “sustainability in business, hospitality, and tourism” directly contributes to SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) by promoting innovative practices that foster sustainable economic development. The focus on innovation and knowledge-sharing, particularly through the Quiz Bee and Poster Making contests, supports SDG 4 (Quality Education) by encouraging critical thinking and creative problem-solving. Furthermore, the overall theme of diversification and improvement in industry practices resonates with SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), highlighting the importance of building resilient infrastructure and fostering innovation for sustainable industrialization. The event serves as a microcosm of the university’s broader commitment to preparing students to be responsible global citizens who can contribute meaningfully to a sustainable future.
