Dean Diosdado Caronongan, Dean of the College of Computer Studies at the University of Luzon (UL), was honored with a Plaque of Appreciation by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Region 1 for the university’s significant contributions to ICT literacy and competency development. The award was presented during the Regional Tech4Ed Awards and ILCDB Stakeholders’ Recognition held in Alaminos City, Pangasinan, on November 21, 2024.

The plaque recognized UL’s continued commitment to advancing digital education, particularly through its collaborative efforts with DICT. Notable initiatives include the 5-day Basic Digital Forensics Training-Workshop at the UL Library in September 2024, and an off-campus activity at the DICT CARAGA Office as part of the Educational Enrichment Program, as well as active participation in DICT events such as the Hack4Gov competition and many other ICT-related activities.

Dean Caronongan expressed gratitude for the recognition, stating:

“On behalf of the University of Luzon, we are honored to receive this award from DICT Region 1. This recognition reflects our shared commitment to advancing ICT education and equipping our students with the skills and values needed to thrive in today’s digital world.”

The award highlights UL’s alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) and SDG 17 (Partnership of the goals). Through these initiatives, UL continues to play a key role in promoting digital literacy, innovation, and ICT-driven development across the region.
