On August 13, 2022, at 1:00 PM, the University of Luzon hosted the Post-Philippine Election Discussion at the UL Multipurpose Hall, organized by the Office of Student Affairs. This event served as a neutral and inclusive platform for student leaders and representatives from various colleges to come together and engage in a respectful and open dialogue about the challenges and key issues surrounding the Philippine elections held on May 9, 2022.

The primary goals of the discussion were to create a safe space for political stakeholders to express their views, regardless of their political affiliations, and to provide an environment for healthy, constructive conversations. The event aimed to encourage students to critically reflect on the electoral process, explore the challenges faced by both candidates and voters, and discuss the lessons learned from the election. Additionally, the discussion sought to highlight the importance of informed voting and to promote unity and understanding among students, fostering a collaborative approach to addressing electoral concerns. It also aimed to emphasize the role of the youth in shaping the future of the nation through active political engagement and participation.

Colleges involved in the event included the College of Accountancy, Business Administration, Computer Studies, Criminology, Education, Hotel and Tourism Management, MLS-Pharmed Bio, Nursing, Liberal Arts, and Engineering and Architecture-AIT. Representatives from these colleges participated in the dialogue, which emphasized the importance of informed participation, unity, and the active role of youth in shaping the nation’s future.

The Post-Philippine Election Discussion provided a valuable opportunity for all attendees to engage in meaningful discourse, discuss challenges, and explore ways to enhance civic engagement. By promoting a safe, neutral environment for all participants, the event highlighted the university’s commitment to fostering respectful, open dialogue on important societal issues and empowering students as future leaders.
