The University of Luzon successfully concluded its College of Liberal Arts Week from September 3 to 5, 2025, an event that truly embodied its theme: “Inclusive Minds, Limitless Potential: Celebrating the Liberal Arts Spirit.” The three-day celebration, a testament to the college’s core values, engaged and inspired Luzonians through a diverse and well-attended program. The overwhelming participation across all activities highlighted the vibrant academic community and its commitment to fostering critical thinking and intellectual curiosity.

The event’s opening day, September 3, began with a formal ceremony that set a celebratory tone. Following the official opening, Luzonians showcased their diverse talents in a series of competitions. The vocal solo contest and spoken word poetry showdown captivated the audience, demonstrating the creative flair of the student body. The debate session was particularly notable for the high level of discourse and constructive dialogue among participants, while the quiz bee was a lively conclusion to the day, celebrating the interdisciplinary knowledge that is a hallmark of the liberal arts.

Day two focused on fostering collaboration and teamwork across the campus. The university-wide scavenger hunt was a highlight, bringing students together to solve clues and navigate the campus, strengthening camaraderie and strategic thinking. The afternoon featured an energetic “Minute to Win It” challenge, which offered a fun and lighthearted break from the academic schedule. The joint activities between faculty and students throughout the day were instrumental in strengthening the bond between mentors and their learners, reinforcing the sense of unity within the college.

The final day, September 5, brought the week to a successful close. The day’s events were punctuated by a formal opening ceremony and welcome remarks from Dr. Carmelita S. Quinto, the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts. A significant part of the day was dedicated to recognizing student achievements during the awarding ceremonies for the week’s various competitions. Educational enrichment was a key component of the final day, with a series of insightful seminars and speeches. Starting the morning’s lineup, the Communicators’ Guild, led by Chairman Harvey Magdaraog, hosted an esteemed speaker, Idol Joana De Vera, who delivered a talk on “Truth Matters: Strengthening Media Literacy Through Fact-Checking,” highlighting the importance of media literacy in the digital age. This was followed by an impressive intermission number by College of Liberal Arts students. Following a short break, the Alliance of Justice, introduced by President Monica Aguilar, welcomed Atty. Gerald M. Tabadero, DPA. His session on “Strengthening Legal Frameworks for Human Rights Protection” empowered students with knowledge on how justice and rights are safeguarded in society. The afternoon’s agenda concluded with the final seminar hosted by the Psychenosi organization. President Michelle Santos welcomed Mr. Jesus F. Dela Cruz Jr., RPm, who shed light on “Beyond the Myths: Understanding Psychology and Accessing the Right Help.” His presentation effectively broke down misconceptions about mental health and encouraged everyone to seek support without stigma. The Pisasalamat Award was presented after each of these enriching segments, recognizing outstanding contributions and capping off the week’s successful events.

The College of Liberal Arts Week’s activities were directly aligned with several of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By promoting critical thinking, creativity, and skill development through its various competitions and seminars, the event supported SDG 4: Quality Education. The inclusive nature of the week, with a focus on welcoming all students and fostering diverse perspectives, contributed to SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities, creating an environment where every Luzonians’ potential was celebrated. Lastly, the emphasis on community-building and collaborative activities, such as the scavenger hunt and joint faculty-student events, demonstrated a commitment to SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, highlighting how shared purpose and cooperation are essential for addressing complex challenges.
