University of Luzon Student Nurses Expand Knowledge in Diabetic Foot Management in Indonesia

Expanding their professional education beyond the classroom, University of Luzon nursing students participated in an Expert Lecture on Diabetic Foot Management on May 23, 2026, during the Indonesia Immersion Program. The session served as the final learning leg of the program, giving participants a deeper understanding of evidence-based nursing care and the management of a common complication of diabetes.
The lecture provided an in-depth discussion of the pathophysiology of diabetic foot complications, with emphasis on comprehensive assessment, early intervention, preventive care, and patient education. Participants learned how these practices can help reduce the risks of infection, ulceration, and amputation among individuals living with diabetes.
Healthcare professionals and specialists shared current approaches to wound management, risk assessment, and multidisciplinary care. Their expertise gave the participants practical knowledge on supporting self-care, preventing complications, and improving the quality of life of patients.
The international learning experience also helped participants connect their classroom knowledge with current healthcare practices. Through the exchange of knowledge, they strengthened their clinical competence and gained a broader perspective on the healthcare needs of diverse populations.
Meaningful academic experiences such as this contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. This advances SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being by strengthening knowledge and practices for diabetes-related care. This also supports SDG 4: Quality Education by connecting academic learning with specialized clinical knowledge. Through the Indonesia Immersion Program, University of Luzon continues to provide nursing students with international learning opportunities that strengthen their knowledge, skills, and readiness for future healthcare practice.
