University of Luzon Student Nurses Gain International Clinical Experience Through Indonesia Immersion Program

Learning extends beyond the classroom when University of Luzon nursing students take part in hands-on clinical experiences om May 21, 2026, through the Indonesia Immersion Program. The hospital-based learning experience provided participants with an opportunity to connect their academic learning with actual patient care while gaining international exposure to healthcare practices.
During their hospital-based experience, participants observed and engaged in various clinical activities alongside healthcare professionals. Their exposure included patient assessments, monitoring procedures, and nursing interventions in the cardiac ward, giving them a closer understanding of the care and management of patients with heart disease and other cardiovascular conditions.
The experience also included wound care management activities, where participants learned about infection prevention, accurate wound assessment, and evidence-based nursing interventions. These activities strengthened their practical training and helped them better understand how proper nursing care contributes to positive patient outcomes.
Beyond specific procedures, participants witnessed different nursing practices and multidisciplinary healthcare activities that highlighted the importance of teamwork, professionalism, critical thinking, and compassionate patient care. The international setting also allowed them to gain a broader perspective of nursing practice while developing skills needed for their future profession.
The clinical immersion supports the University of Luzon’s efforts to provide meaningful learning opportunities for future healthcare professionals. It also contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. This international clinical exposure advances SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being by strengthening students’ understanding of safe, quality, and compassionate healthcare; SDG 4: Quality Education by connecting professional education with practical training and international learning; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by encouraging collaboration and knowledge sharing across countries.
Through the Indonesia Immersion Program, University of Luzon continues to give its nursing students opportunities to learn beyond familiar settings, strengthen their clinical competence, and develop a wider understanding of healthcare practice.
