University of Luzon Strengthens Faculty Skills Through CONM’s Ellen Divina Faculty Development Program

Strengthening faculty skills and adapting teaching practices to the needs of today’s learners remain important to effective education at the University of Luzon. Through the Ellen Divina Faculty Development Program, the University of Luzon – College of Nursing and Midwifery conducted “Teaching and Engaging Gen Z Learners: Practical Strategies for Communication, Classroom Management, and Student Success” on June 9, 2026.

The faculty development activity featured morning sessions focused on understanding Gen Z learners, increasing student engagement and motivation, managing classroom challenges, and improving faculty-student communication. The sessions also covered ways to maintain academic standards while supporting student success.

The afternoon program shifted to curriculum alignment and assessment development. Faculty members worked on syllabus enhancement, computation of grades, course learning outcomes, references, and the integration of research outputs. Activities also included developing a Table of Specifications aligned with course learning outcomes and reviewing the syllabus for improvement.

Through these sessions, the University of Luzon provided faculty members with professional training that can strengthen educational strategies, teaching quality, and classroom practices. The program also supports a learning environment where faculty can respond more effectively to changing student needs, while equipping them with practical approaches that promote effective teaching and meaningful student learning.

Faculty development plays an important role in improving the learning experience and helping educators respond to changing needs in education. The initiative contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals through continuous professional learning and improvements in teaching practice. By strengthening educational strategies, teaching quality, and faculty skills, the program advances SDG 4: Quality Education.
