University of Luzon Karate-do Team Showcased Excellence at PRISAA

The University of Luzon proudly celebrates the achievements of its Karate-do Team as they prepare to represent the institution at the National PRISAA Games in Negros. Through months of dedicated training, discipline, and perseverance, the team has demonstrated exceptional commitment to athletic excellence while embodying the core values of the University.

The team recently delivered an outstanding performance during the PRISAA 2026 competitions held on May 10, 2026, earning recognition in both Team Kata and Individual Kumite events. Their accomplishments stand as a testament to the hard work, determination, and sportsmanship that characterize University of Luzon student-athletes.

Among the notable achievements were the Silver Medal victories of the Team Kata Male category, represented by Edison V. Jugo, Kendrick Ignacio, and Janjan G. Door. In the Individual Kumite Female division, Charisse T. Cabanganan secured a Silver Medal in the 55 kg category, while Chrizel Ashley F. Manzano earned a Silver Medal in the 61 kg category.

The University also extends its appreciation to Coach Sir Bong Ireneo Soriano for his unwavering dedication, leadership, and guidance, which have played a vital role in the development and success of the team. Likewise, the UL College of Criminology, under the leadership of Dean Dante A. De Castro, continues to provide steadfast support in nurturing student-athletes who excel both academically and competitively.

The achievements of the University of Luzon Karate-do Team reflect the institution’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being By promoting active participation in sports and physical activities, the University encourages healthy lifestyles, mental resilience, and overall well-being among its students, and SDG 4: Quality Education through sports programs, leadership opportunities, and character-building experiences, students acquire valuable life skills such as teamwork, perseverance, responsibility, and integrity.

As the UL Karate-do Team embarks on its journey to the National PRISAA Games, the entire University of Luzon community stands united in support and pride.
