Psychology students from the University of Luzon – College of Liberal Arts actively participated in the Mental Health Convergence 3 held on March 13, 2026, at Don Telesforo N. Boquiren Convention Hall of Pangasinan State University–Lingayen Campus. Organized by the Philippine Mental Health Association – Pangasinan Chapter, the event gathered Psychology majors from various universities across Pangasinan.

Guided by the theme, “Liwanag sa Dilim: Bridging Generations in Solidarity for Mental Health,” The convergence served as a meaningful platform for students, educators, mental health professionals, and advocates to engage in discussions that promote mental health awareness, strengthen collaboration, and encourage collective action toward building mentally healthy communities. The event created a space for Psychology majors from different institutions to connect, share insights, and stand together in support of mental health and well-being.

During the opening program, Dr. Marie Claire B. Briones, Director of PSU Lingayen Campus, emphasized that mental health is no longer a silent issue but a conversation that must be embraced within schools, homes, and communities. She underscored the significance of nurturing mental well-being alongside academic and professional growth, describing the convergence as a movement dedicated to awareness, dialogue, healing, and empowerment.

One of the highlights of the event was the keynote address delivered by Dr. Sixto A. Bravo Jr., RN, MAN, MD, EdD, who discussed common mental health disorders and the importance of early recognition, appropriate intervention, and reducing the stigma often associated with mental health conditions. His discussion emphasized how education, awareness, and open conversations can empower individuals to seek help and support when needed.

Beyond the lectures and discussions, the event featured interactive activity booths and group dynamics prepared by participating universities. These activities provided students with opportunities to connect, collaborate, and engage in creative approaches to mental health advocacy while fostering camaraderie among Psychology majors from different institutions.

The participation of the University of Luzon Psychology students reflects the institution’s commitment to developing future mental health professionals who are not only academically prepared but also socially responsible and actively engaged in promoting psychological well-being. Through events such as the Mental Health Convergence 3, students are empowered to become advocates for mental health awareness, compassion, and inclusivity within their communities.

This participation supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being by promoting mental health awareness, reducing stigma, and encouraging access to support systems that contribute to overall well-being, SDG 4: Quality Education by providing students with meaningful learning experiences beyond the classroom, enhancing their knowledge, critical thinking, and professional competencies in the field of Psychology, and SDG 17: Partnership for the goals as the convergence embodies the spirit of collaboration among educational institutions, mental health organizations, professionals, and students, fostering collective action toward building healthier and more resilient communities.

As future psychologists and mental health practitioners, the BA Psychology students with the initiative of Psychenosi – Union of Souls (UL Psychology Organization) continues to be part of events that encourage understanding, support, and solidarity, contributing to a future where mental health is recognized as an essential component of individual and community well-being.
