University of Luzon Concludes Successful Regional Monitoring Visit, Advancing Excellence in Teacher Education
Posted on 20th of Feb 2026 by UL AdministratorIn a decisive move to solidify the quality of teacher education in the region, the University of Luzon recently concluded a comprehensive monitoring visit from the Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) on February 18, 2026. This evaluative session served as the final phase of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED)-funded initiative, “MMSU CTE Initiatives for an Improved BLEPT Performance of Region I.” Following the university’s active participation in intensive face-to-face training sessions held in July and August of last year, this visit provided a formal platform to validate the institutional gains made in preparing graduates for the Board Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (BLEPT). Under the guidance of President Dr. Luis M. Sison, Jr., the monitoring activity was successfully carried out with the presence and leadership of Dr. Imelda E. Cuartel, Dean of the College of Education, Prof. Angel S. Reyna, Jr., Director for International Relations, and the vital coordination of Human Resource Officer Dr. Dolores B. Bustillo.
For Luzonians, the successful completion of this monitoring visit signifies a reinforced assurance that their education is aligned with the most rigorous professional standards in the country. The MMSU monitoring team, coordinated by Dr. Bert A. Gamiao, closely examined the integration of advanced instructional strategies and curriculum enhancements that have been implemented across the university’s teacher education framework. By opening its doors to this peer-evaluative process, the University of Luzon has not only benchmarked its performance against regional leaders but has also gained valuable insights to further refine its pedagogical approach. The focus remains clear: to ensure that every graduate is not merely a candidate for licensure, but a highly competent educator ready to transform the landscape of Philippine education.
The university administration views the completion of this CHED-funded program as a milestone in its long-standing history of academic leadership in Pangasinan. As a premier higher education institution, the University of Luzon recognizes that excellence is a continuous journey fostered through strategic partnerships and shared professional goals. The collaborative spirit exhibited during the visit underscores the importance of regional synergy among Teacher Education Institutions (TEIs). By adopting best practices and responding to the latest trends in licensure preparation, the University of Luzon continues to provide Luzonians with an environment where academic rigor meets practical professional readiness, ensuring that our future teachers remain competitive, compassionate, and ready to serve with integrity.
The participation of the University of Luzon in this regional initiative is strategically aligned with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), most notably SDG 4: Quality Education. By successfully completing this program aimed at improving BLEPT performance, the university directly contributes to the global target of increasing the supply of qualified teachers. Furthermore, the collaboration between UL and MMSU embodies the spirit of SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, demonstrating how inter-institutional cooperation, supported by government bodies like CHED, can achieve profound educational impacts. Through these efforts, the University of Luzon upholds its mission of “Perecias y Valias,” fostering a sustainable future for the community and the nation.
