Posted on 19th of Dec 2025 by UL AdministratorThe University of Luzon College of Education continues to demonstrate its leadership in the field of academic inquiry and pedagogical innovation through the recent accomplishments of its distinguished faculty and alumni. Highlighting this commitment to excellence, Dr. Dennis A. Solis represented the institution at the 2025 Research Summit, an inaugural event organized by the Schools Division Office (SDO) of Dagupan City in collaboration with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Dagupan. Held from December 15 to 17, 2025, at the SDO Dagupan City Division Training Center, the summit served as a critical platform for educators and researchers to converge under the theme “Research in Action: Improving Classrooms, Strengthening Schools for Every Dagupeño Learner.” This gathering emphasized the necessity of bridging the gap between theoretical research and practical classroom application to better serve the evolving needs of the student population.
During the multi-day event, Dr. Solis distinguished himself within the English and Language Category by presenting his comprehensive study, “Effectiveness of Picture Series Technique (PST) in Enhancing the Writing Skills of Grade 10 Students of Dagupan City National High School.” His selection as one of the few presenters from a competitive pool of more than 20 researchers across the city underscores the caliber of scholarship fostered at the University of Luzon. The presentation provided a rigorous analysis of how visual-based instructional strategies can mitigate common challenges in language acquisition and literacy. By focusing on the tangible outcomes of the Picture Series Technique, Dr. Solis provided actionable insights that resonanted with fellow educators and administrators, offering a scalable model for improving writing proficiency in secondary education.
This milestone is a testament to the University of Luzon’s enduring mission to cultivate a vibrant research culture that prioritizes innovation, academic rigor, and community impact. The institution has long maintained that the role of an educator extends beyond the lecture hall, encompassing a responsibility to contribute to the global body of knowledge and to address local educational exigencies. Through sustained institutional support and a robust mentorship framework, the University empowers Luzonians to engage in evidence-based practices that transcend traditional boundaries. The success of Dr. Solis serves as a source of immense pride for the entire University of Luzon community, offering a clear example of how scholarly dedication can translate into improved educational outcomes for the youth of Dagupan City and the broader region.
The participation and success of the University’s faculty in such high-level summits directly align with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Most notably, this initiative supports SDG 4 (Quality Education) by introducing and validating innovative teaching methodologies that enhance student learning and literacy skills. Furthermore, the collaborative nature of the summit, involving the SDO and the LGU, exemplifies the spirit of SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), demonstrating how academic institutions and government entities can work in tandem to strengthen the educational infrastructure. By fostering these professional synergies and promoting empirical research, the University of Luzon remains a steadfast partner in the pursuit of sustainable development through the transformative power of education.
