The official opening was heralded by a high-energy orientation held on December 15, 2025, at the UL Multi-Purpose Hall, drawing together a large assembly of students, faculty members, and organizers who signaled the formal commencement of the week-long festivities.
The program at the Multi-Purpose Hall began with a powerful address from the esteemed Dean of the College of Criminology, Dr. Dante A. De Castro. In his inspiring remarks, Dr. De Castro underscored the fundamental importance of unity, discipline, and active participation among the Luzonians. He firmly established that Crim-Venture Week transcends mere competition and entertainment, serving a crucial, higher purpose: building integrity, cultivating leadership capabilities, and forging a robust sense of belonging within the close-knit criminology community. His message set a clear and purposeful tone for the days ahead, emphasizing growth alongside friendly rivalry.
Following the formal program, the much-awaited array of games and tournaments was officially declared open, with students enthusiastically diving into the competitive activities. The atmosphere was immediately electric, filled with cheers, palpable teamwork, and the energy of friendly rivalry as participants began to showcase their specific skills, strategies, and deeply held passion for the discipline and the spirit of competition. The diverse slate of featured contests is meticulously designed to challenge the students across intellectual, creative, and strategic domains, encompassing the Crim-Venture Poster Making Contest, the Pogay & Poganda Edition, a Singing Competition, and the demanding Quiz: Battle of The Brains. Additionally, the strategic and competitive spirit is being tested through the Chess Tournament and popular e-sports events, including the Mobile Legends Tournament and the Call of Duty Mobile Tournament. These initial activities have successfully established a dynamic and engaging environment, promoting both mental acumen and physical coordination among the participating Luzonians, promising days filled with excitement, challenges, and unforgettable memories for all students in the College of Criminology.
The comprehensive nature of the Crim-Venture 2025 activities—ranging from academic contests to arts and sports—demonstrates a strong alignment with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), reflecting the University of Luzon’s commitment to global responsibility. Specifically, the Quiz: Battle of The Brains directly contributes to SDG 4: Quality Education by promoting intellectual excellence and lifelong learning. The emphasis on unity, integrity, discipline, and leadership, highlighted in the Dean’s opening message, supports SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, fostering the effective and accountable institutions necessary for sustainable societies. Furthermore, the inclusion of both traditional and digital sports, such as the Chess, Mobile Legends, and Call of Duty Mobile tournaments, links to SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, promoting mental acuity, social cohesion, and the importance of healthy recreational pursuits among the student population.
