The University of Luzon (UL) reinforced its strategic involvement in advancing national pedagogical standards as academic leaders from its College of Education participated in the National Forum on Shaping the Futures of Teacher Education through Research Evidence. This significant gathering was held on 11 December 2025, running from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the Novel Hotel on C.P. Garcia Avenue in Taguig City. The College of Education’s leadership, spearheaded by Dean Dr. Imelda E. Cuartel, alongside esteemed faculty members Dr. Joseph Alain G. Gador, Prof. John Norman C. Rodriguez, Prof. Rizel B. Padua, and Prof. Joerom D. Onofre, represented the institution’s staunch commitment to excellence.

The University of Luzon’s proactive engagement in this national event underscored its role as an active and dedicated partner in the collective effort to elevate the quality of teacher education throughout the country. The forum itself was co-organized by the University of Santo Tomas College of Education and Philippine Normal University–Mindanao, in broad partnership with PNU South Luzon, PNU North Luzon, Central Luzon State University, PNU Visayas, West Visayas State University, University of San Carlos, Pangasinan State University, and Saint Louis University. This concerted action by some of the nation’s leading educational institutions highlighted the gravity and nationwide scope of the initiative. The forum served as the culminating dissemination event for the Nationwide Tracer Study on Teacher Education Graduates, a major research project that meticulously examined the professional journeys, employment patterns, and essential workforce outcomes of recently certified educators across the Philippine archipelago.

The presence of UL’s academic delegation emphasized the institution’s strong and unwavering commitment to evidence-based educational development. Their engagement was a direct contribution to shaping future directions in teacher preparation, providing valuable input that supported national efforts to enhance teacher quality, effectively aligned teacher education programs with current societal and professional demands, and ensured the curriculum remained responsive to the constantly evolving needs of the education sector. By participating, the University of Luzon ensured that the perspective and expertise of its faculty contributed meaningfully to policy discussions that will impact current and future generations of Luzonians pursuing a career in teaching.

The University of Luzon’s investment of time and expertise in disseminating the findings of the Nationwide Tracer Study was a tangible manifestation of its dedication to global best practices. This initiative directly championed Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4: Quality Education) by focusing on data and evidence to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for future teachers. Furthermore, the extensive network of co-organizers and institutional partners—from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao—exemplified Sustainable Development Goal 17 (SDG 17: Partnership for the Goals). UL’s participation effectively revitalized the national partnership for sustainable development, ensuring that educational goals were pursued through robust, collaborative, and evidence-based action across multiple sectors and regions.
