On November 14, Dr. Carmelo John E. Vidal collaborated with the Pasig City Local Government Unit (LGU) as part of the LGA’s Capacity Development Acceleration and Competency Enhancement (CapDev ACE) initiative. This program aims to strengthen the competencies of LGU leaders and personnel to ensure effective, transparent, and citizen-centered governance. His participation demonstrates how the University directly supports government capacity-building through specialized expertise.

In his dual role as an academic leader and governance assessor, Dr. Vidal contributes expert guidance in curriculum development, competency mapping, institutional assessment, and the design of training modules for public sector personnel. His advisory work informs the development of governance strategies and evidence-based practices that align with Pasig City’s public service goals under the leadership of Mayor Vico Sotto. Through this engagement, the University actively provides policy-relevant insights and contributes to initiatives that enhance government operations and service delivery.

This collaboration also supports key Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions). By offering expert advice and participating in government-led development programs, the University of Luzon reinforces its mission to promote ethical, effective governance and to develop professionals who contribute to societal advancement.

Overall, Dr. Vidal’s involvement in the CapDev ACE initiative exemplifies how the University, through its faculty expertise, provides structured and meaningful advisory support to government institutions—strengthening public governance and contributing to national development priorities.
