University of Luzon Holds Career Awareness Program for Graduating Students
Posted on 7th of Nov 2025 by UL AdministratorThe University of Luzon successfully hosted a comprehensive Career Awareness Program on November 5, 2025, dedicated to equipping graduating Luzonians with the essential tools needed for a successful transition into the professional world. The full-day event, held in the 3rd Floor Library, ran from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and was strategically structured into morning and afternoon sessions to maximize engagement and knowledge transfer for the soon-to-be graduates. The program commenced with unfreezing exercises designed to “break the ice,” skillfully facilitated by Emcee Prof. Anastacio B. Aquino, the Assistant Director of the Office of Student Affairs. Setting the stage for a day of focused learning, Prof. Tzarita Marie P. Mayo, Dean of the College of MLS and Pharmacy, delivered the welcome messages, underscoring the vital importance of career readiness as the students prepared to embark on their post-academic journeys.
The seminar proper featured two distinguished resource speakers who delivered high-impact sessions covering critical aspects of the job search process. Dr. Dolores Bustillo, the university’s Human Resource Officer, led the discussion on the crucial topic of ‘Facing an Interview and Landing a Job,’ providing graduating students with expert strategies for navigating interview scenarios, managing professional comportment, and securing employment offers. Following this, Ms. Annabelle Bamba V. Cua, the International Relations Coordinator, focused her expertise on the foundational skills of ‘Resume Writing and Personal Grooming,’ advising Luzonians on how to craft compelling professional documents and present themselves confidently to potential employers. A key component of the program’s interactivity was the inclusion of open forum sessions at the conclusion of both the morning and afternoon segments, allowing students to directly pose questions and receive tailored advice from the campus experts.
In a move that linked academic preparation directly to immediate employment opportunities, the program included an active recruitment component. A representative from Men2 Marketing and Distribution Enterprise Corporation was present throughout the day to connect directly with graduating Luzonians. Founded on May 15, 2007, the company operates primarily in the logistics and distribution industry, providing a unique opportunity for students to engage with an established corporate sector entity and explore potential job openings even before their graduation. This practical inclusion of a corporation representative ensured that the skills taught in the seminars could be immediately applied to tangible career prospects, highlighting the University of Luzon’s dedication to facilitating the career placement of its students. The full-day initiative underscored the University’s commitment to providing a holistic educational experience that extends beyond the classroom and into the sphere of professional achievement.
The successful execution of the Career Awareness Program aligns directly with key United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), demonstrating the University of Luzon’s dedication to global development targets. Specifically, the initiative supports SDG 4: Quality Education by ensuring that graduating Luzonians are equipped not just with academic degrees, but also with the practical skills—such as resume writing and interview techniques—necessary for future success. Furthermore, the program strongly contributes to SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth by actively facilitating the transition of graduates into productive employment through direct interaction with potential employers like Men2 Marketing and Distribution Enterprise Corporation, thereby promoting sustained, inclusive, and sustainable economic opportunity for the region.
