The University of Luzon (UL) is proud to announce the significant achievement of its College of Nursing faculty and student researchers, whose abstracts have been selected for presentation at the prestigious Global Conference on Health Innovation and Evidence Implementation. This major international event, organized by the Global Society for Philippine Nurse Researchers, Inc. (GSPNRI), is scheduled to be held on December 3–4, 2025, at the Novotel Hotel in Quezon City. The selection of four distinct research papers underscores the institution’s unwavering dedication to fostering a culture of rigorous, evidence-based inquiry that directly addresses contemporary health challenges, bringing immense pride and honor to the entire academic community.

The College’s faculty researcher, Jane Marffy Llamas, was recognized for a Podium Presentation in the professional category for her work, “Psychological Correlates of Suicidal Ideation: Examining the Impact of Fatigue, Cognitive-Emotional Distress, and Academic Motivation.” This timely research provides critical insights into the complex mental health landscape facing students, offering a framework for targeted psychological interventions. Parallelly addressing the holistic well-being of the youth, student researcher Clarissa Joy C. Aquino will also deliver a Podium Presentation on “The Role of Social Media in Shaping Attitudes Toward Sexual Health Among Teenagers.” This study highlights the imperative for dynamic, relevant health education strategies that engage with the pervasive digital environment shaping the lives of young Luzonians.

Further demonstrating the breadth of inquiry within the College, two additional student researchers were recognized for innovative presentation formats. Jo Kenneth M. Corpuz will present a Concurrent Mixed-Methods Study titled “Stress Management Strategies Among Nursing Students,” utilizing the Storyscape Presentation format. This research is vital for improving retention and mental resilience within the demanding nursing curriculum. Complementing the focus on vulnerable populations, Diamond Lambino will deliver a rapid 3-minute pitch titled “Bridging Knowledge Gap in Sexual and Repoductive Health on Innovation and Evidence Implementation,” emphasizing the immediate need to translate current evidence into actionable public health programs.

The collective success of these Luzonians—spanning faculty and students, diverse methodologies, and critical health topics—serves as a compelling testament to the University of Luzon’s foundational commitment to bridging evidence, policy, and practice for transformative healthcare. The GSPNRI conference provides a global stage for these researchers to share their findings, contribute to the international nursing discourse, and establish the University of Luzon as a major force in producing high-impact research that improves health outcomes both locally and globally.

The research themes presented by the University of Luzon College of Nursing directly align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being. Specifically, the studies on suicidal ideation and stress management strategies (Llamas and Corpuz) contribute to Target 3.4, which calls for promoting mental health and well-being. Furthermore, the work by Aquino and Lambino on sexual and reproductive health attitudes and knowledge gaps is in direct service of Target 3.7, aimed at ensuring universal access to sexual and reproductive healthcare services, information, and education by 2030. By fostering research excellence and innovation across these critical areas, the College of Nursing embodies the spirit of Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), actively generating the scientific evidence and expertise necessary to achieve a healthier, more sustainable future.
