The University of Luzon (UL), through its esteemed College of Computer Studies (CCS), successfully hosted “Sui PH: Move In Campus,” a comprehensive, full-day learning immersion held on October 9, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. This landmark event was strategically designed to equip participating students and faculty with the highly specialized knowledge required to navigate the emerging landscape of decentralized technology. The workshop focused intensively on the Sui Blockchain, the core principles of the Move programming language, and the practical application of smart contract creation, solidifying the University’s dedication to fostering cutting-edge technological literacy among its community.

The curriculum provided a thorough, progressive journey through blockchain development. Participants were introduced to the foundational architecture of the Sui network before transitioning into an essential overview of Move, the resource-centric programming language powering the network. The sessions quickly evolved into hands-on exercises, guiding attendees through the meticulous process of writing their first smart contract. Furthermore, the training covered advanced subjects such as building fully functional decentralized applications (dApps) on the Sui network, exploring advanced feature sets, and gaining a deep understanding of Walrus, an integral component of the ecosystem. This comprehensive structure ensured a smooth transition for Luzonians, moving from conceptual understanding to tangible development skills.

The immersion was led by a distinguished cohort of blockchain experts who provided real-world insights and mentorship. The faculty included Wind, the Country Lead; Tzar Umang, the Lead Developer; Arjay Francisco, Sui Developer; Miguel Castro, AWS Pangasinan Lead; and Roberth Lloren, Sui Developer. Their collective expertise ensured the participants received instruction grounded in current industry practices and future trends. Both students and faculty members of the College of Computer Studies demonstrated high levels of engagement, actively participating in the collaborative discussions and intensive hands-on development sessions throughout the eight-hour program.

This collaborative learning experience underscores the University of Luzon’s forward-thinking approach to education and its ongoing commitment to innovation. By integrating high-demand skills like blockchain and smart contract development into its technological offerings, the University is proactively preparing its Luzonians for success in the rapidly accelerating global digital economy. Events such as “Sui PH: Move In Campus” are vital in ensuring that graduates are not only ready to meet future industry demands but are also poised to become leaders and innovators in the field of decentralized computing.

Ultimately, the success of this technological upskilling initiative is directly aligned with the global framework for sustainability. By providing specialized training in an advanced field like blockchain development, the University significantly contributes to Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education), ensuring inclusive and equitable learning opportunities for all in technical fields. The focus on generating skills for productive employment supports SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), enabling Luzonians to access high-value careers in the global marketplace. Furthermore, promoting cutting-edge digital infrastructure development through the Sui network directly advances SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), strengthening the region’s capacity for sustainable technological advancement.
