University of Luzon Earns Top Ranks in WURI 2025 Global Innovative Universities

The University of Luzon (UL) has once again demonstrated its commitment to academic and institutional excellence, securing a prominent position in the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI) for the second consecutive year. During the 5th Annual Conference of the Hanseatic League of Universities, held from July 9–11, 2025, in Dumaguete City, UL was officially recognized among the WURI 2025 Global Top 400 Innovative Universities, achieving an impressive Rank 288 worldwide. This notable achievement places UL among 1,263 universities from 87 countries that submitted 4,866 innovative programs for consideration.

Beyond its overall global ranking, the University of Luzon received high distinctions in several critical innovation categories:
• Entrepreneurial Spirit (Category A4): UL secured the 10th rank globally and 5th in the Philippines for its “Project WOW” initiative. This program is lauded for its significant contributions to fostering innovation, enterprise, and creative thinking among both students and faculty members.
• Student Support and Engagement (Category A1): The University of Luzon was ranked 15th worldwide and 6th in the Philippines for its “PILLARS FOR STUDENTS” program. This recognition highlights the university’s robust systems and comprehensive programs designed to promote student growth, inclusion, and active participation in university life.
• SDG-Based Responses to Global Challenges (Category A8): UL achieved the 27th rank globally and 7th in the Philippines for “Project Zero.” This initiative underscores the university’s dedication to integrating the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into its educational frameworks, research endeavors, and community-centric initiatives.

These remarkable achievements underscore the University of Luzon’s unwavering commitment to innovation, global relevance, and delivering transformative education. The university extends its congratulations to all Luzonians for their collective contribution to this outstanding accomplishment. A special commendation is also extended to the UL IZN Team, whose dedication, creativity, and hard work were instrumental in achieving these distinctions.

The University of Luzon’s recognition in the WURI 2025 rankings, particularly in the categories of Entrepreneurial Spirit, Student Support and Engagement, and SDG-Based Responses to Global Challenges, directly aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The focus on “Entrepreneurial Spirit” contributes to SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) by fostering innovation and job creation. “Student Support and Engagement” directly supports SDG 4 (Quality Education) by ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all Luzonians.
