University of Luzon Celebrates “Kulay at Laya,” Honoring Women’s Heritage and the LGBTQIA+ Spirit
Posted on 23rd of Jun 2025 by UL AdministratorThe University of Luzon recently hosted “Kulay at Laya: Honoring Women’s Heritage and the LGBTQIA+ Community” on June 23, 2025, a vibrant and successful event held at the 3rd Floor Library. The initiative celebrated the strength, heritage, and identities of women and the LGBTQIA+ community, providing a safe and inclusive space for dialogue and expression.
The event, themed “Recognizing the Power, Pride, and Cultural Impact of Filipina and the LGBTQIA+,” commenced at 7:00 AM. Luzonians and guests were honored by the presence of esteemed speakers, Ms. Angela Ruth P. Felicitas, RPm, LPT, and Mr. Jesus F. Dela Cruz Jr., RPm. Both speakers delivered inspiring messages focused on gender equality, diversity, and embracing individual identities, resonating deeply with the audience.
“Kulay at Laya” was a collaborative effort, meticulously organized by the University’s Guidance Center in partnership with Psychenosi and the Youth Peer Organization. The dedicated OJT Psychology Interns – Batch 2025 – played a pivotal role in facilitating the event, ensuring a welcoming environment for all participants and fostering a strong sense of community. The event successfully brought together powerful voices and creative expressions, underscoring the University’s commitment to inclusivity and empowerment.
The “Kulay at Laya” initiative directly aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By fostering an inclusive environment and promoting discussions on gender and identity, the event significantly contributes to SDG 5: Gender Equality, working towards a world where all individuals, regardless of gender, have equal rights and opportunities. Furthermore, by addressing and celebrating diverse communities, it advances SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities, striving to diminish disparities within and among countries. Finally, the successful collaboration between the Guidance Center, student organizations, and interns exemplifies SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, highlighting the importance of multi-stakeholder partnerships in achieving sustainable development. Through such initiatives, the University of Luzon reaffirms its dedication to fostering a just and equitable society.
