The University of Luzon (UL) – College of Nursing and Midwifery proudly participated in the inaugural day of the Regional Conference on Adolescent Reproductive Health Education, held on June 19. The event, held at Puerto De San Juan, San Juan, La Union, convened student leaders, educators, and health advocates from various institutions to foster collaboration and knowledge exchange in adolescent health.

Representing the University of Luzon were Diamond M. Lambino, a fourth-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) student, and Professor Mark Leo Zabala, a distinguished faculty member. Both actively engaged in the opening sessions, which centered on advancing adolescent health and rights through comprehensive education.

The conference serves as a vital platform for discussions on critical issues affecting the reproductive health of adolescents. Luzonians and other attendees have the opportunity to gain insights from diverse perspectives and contribute to the development of more effective health initiatives.

The subsequent session featured BSN IV student Diamond Lambino as a resource speaker. Lambino presented their research, “Bridging Knowledge Gaps in Sexual and Reproductive Health: Implications for Education and Policy Interventions.” This study, co-authored with DDDr. Jordan H. Llego, Dean of the College of Nursing and Midwifery, was made possible through the DEAN LLEGO Research Program. The research aims to contribute to the formulation of more inclusive and evidence-based sexual and reproductive health (SRH) policies and educational interventions.

The University of Luzon’s active involvement in this regional conference underscores its commitment to promoting health education and research. The participation of its students and faculty directly aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), by contributing to universal access to sexual and reproductive health-care services, and Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education), by fostering inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities. Furthermore, the collaborative nature of the conference and the research presented contribute to Sustainable Development Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), by strengthening the means of implementation and revitalizing the global partnership for sustainable development.
