Posted on 5th of Nov 2024 by UL AdministratorDagupan City, November 5, 2024– The University of Luzon celebrated the power of altruism and unity during its 38th Pledge 25 Campaign and Mass Blood Donation Drive. Held at the Don Luis F. Samson Estadio, the event brought together students, faculty, staff, and collaborators to contribute to a life-saving cause, reaffirming the university’s deep commitment to community welfare.
Running from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, the campaign accumulated an impressive 323 successful blood donations, each embodying the spirit of selflessness and compassion. With each donation potentially saving up to three lives, the collective impact of the drive is a testament to the profound difference that acts of kindness can make.
Organized by UL NSTP CARES and the UL Extension Service, the event was made possible through the support of the Philippine Red Cross – Pangasinan Chapter, the City Government of Dagupan, Barangay Health Workers, and various university organizations. This seamless collaboration highlights the strength of collective action in addressing critical societal needs.
“ Blood donation is an act of altruism that embodies the best of humanity,” Dr. Carmelo John E. Vidal, Director for Extension Services, said. “By giving blood, donors give the ultimate gift—the gift of life—and today, Luzonians have once again shown their unwavering commitment to helping others.”
The event supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, emphasizing:
– SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), by enhancing access to essential health services.
– SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), by fostering community resilience.
– SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), through strong collaboration among stakeholders.
More than just a donation drive, the event served as a celebration of community spirit and humanity. Whether first-time donors or seasoned participants, everyone played a crucial role in saving lives and uplifting the community.
The University of Luzon continues to inspire and lead by example, proving that through collective action and altruism, we can build a better, healthier, and more compassionate world.
Together, we save lives—one drop at a time.
