Disciplinary Action

The objective of disciplinary action is to inculcate in an employee the fundamental standards of behavior and performance. It is prescribed not to punish, but to encourage employees to follow certain rules of good behavior and work procedures to ensure the smooth functioning of the institution. The following are ways of handling disciplinary and other related problems:

1. verbal reprimand
2. written reprimand
3. suspension according to gravity of the offense
4. lay-off, in the case of probationary and temporary employees
5. dismissal for cause

For permanent employees, the following policies will apply: Two (2) warnings shall be given in writing for any of the following:

a) Tardiness and absenteeism
b) Inefficiency
c) Infraction of rules regarding keeping of time records
d) other related infractions
