Dagupan City, Pangasinan – Mrs. Angeline “Angie” Bernal-Samson, sister of the late National Artist for Theater Design Salvador “Badong” Bernal and wife of University of Luzon President Dr. Luis M. Samson Jr., will deliver a message of gratitude on behalf of the Bernal family at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Edades and Bernal Cultural Center and Museum on November 15, 2024. This significant event, organized by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), Congressman Christopher “Toff” de Venecia, and Dagupan City Mayor Belen T. Fernandez, will honor the remarkable contributions of National Artists Victorio Edades and Salvador “Badong” Bernal.
The ceremony will begin at the center’s future location, with an official program at the CSI Stadia, Jimmy L. Fernandez Center. Supported by Republic Act No. 11726, the Edades and Bernal Cultural Center and Museum aims to honor the contributions of National Artists Victorio Edades and Salvador Bernal. It will promote the arts, creative industries, and education as part of its mission to enrich the cultural landscape of Dagupan and Pangasinan.
Philippine Pride’s University of Luzon Harmonics (ULH), University of Luzon Theatre and Dance Company (ULTDC), and University of Luzon Drum and Bugle Corps (ULDBC), will perform, showcasing the university’s dedication to fostering a vibrant arts community. This initiative reflects UL’s commitment to cultural preservation, education, and sustainable development, advancing several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
